Or, download and use one of the Ready-Made Configs available here. You can find more details on doing so on the Console Help page and the Scripts and Aliases page. Additionally, you can create config files which set your keyboard, mouse, and special control preferences depending on the class or map you are playing. You do not have to limit yourself to the controls listed in the menu, but it's important to set at least those. Of course, just like Half-Life, TFC is very easily customized to suit your needs. The quick way to do so is to select "Configuration" and then "Controls" from the main menu and select one (or two) keys or buttons for each of the listed actions (use the curson keys to move around, hit enter and then the key or button you want to change an entry, hit delete to remove an entry). Before playing, make sure you set (and remember or write down) they keys you prefer to perform the various special TFC actions. TFC has many new controls not found in normal Half-Life. You can modify a shortcut to Half-Life to make TFC the default game (as is the case with the TFC shortcut that will be added to your desktop if you allow the 1.0.0.9 installation to do so) by adding the "-game tfc" command line option to the properties of the shortcut, as in: C:\SIERRA\Half-Life\hl.exe -game tfc After doing so, the main menu background will change to the TFC background. #Team fortress classic cd key modsTo do so, select "Custom game" from the menu in the game, highlight "Team Fortress Classic" in the mods list, then click "Activate" and then "done". #Team fortress classic cd key PatchIf that still gives you trouble, go download the appropriate patch version from the patches page and manually upgrade your copy of Half-Life.Īfter you upgrade to 1.0.0.9, you can chose to play regular Half-Life or the new TFC game you added. If you have problems with the in-game "Update" utility, you can try the "Sierra Utility" that was added to your Start menu when you installed Half-Life to update. After a (possibly long) download, your Half-Life game will be upgraded to version 1.0.0.9 and you'll be ready to play TFC. Simply select "Configuration" and then "Update" from the menu. #Team fortress classic cd key installYou can download and install the TFC add-on from within any version of Half-Life. The demo version will not work, and there is no way to purchase TFC as a stand-alone game it is a (free) add-on (or mod) for Half-Life, and it is included with the upgrade patch to version 1.0.0.9 (the retail Half-Life CD includes version 1.0.0.5 or 1.0.0.6, depending on when and where you purchased it). You must have the full, retail version of Half-Life installed to play TFC. While TFC is not hard to play, it does require a bit more thinking and coordination than your average deathmatch game, so it's a good idea to familiarize youself with the controls, strategies, and techniques of first-person shooter (FPS) games before adding to the mix the team and class issues associated with TFC. If you've never played deathmatch, capture-the-flag (CTF), or any other multiplayer game, I suggest you do so (at least for a bit) before jumping into TFC. It's based on Team Fortress (TF), an old (but still quite popular) modification (mod) for Quake. From the beginning: Team Fortress Classic (TFC) is a class-based multiplayer game for two or more teams. ![]()
